For parents

Children and youth live in a media dominated world. They are exposed to media in their everyday lives - at school, out on town, at home and at a friends place. Media is a good thing as long as its used with critic and moderation. Parents are responsible for how their children consume and act in the media, so be brave and get acquainted with different media and act as an example for your child.

Mediaeducation.fi -site For parents is currently under construction. The site will be up and running again soon in 2011. During this time you can visit other sites that provide useful information directed to parents.

1. On the Insafe network you can find information for parents on Online safety. Choose the theme (e.g. blogs,
online gaming and chat) that you wish to know more about.

2. Pegi is short for the Pan European Gaming Information. The site provides information about age ratings on games and the symbols symbolize what the games contain (e.g. violence, sex and bad language). On the site you can also find advice for parents how to choose a suitable game for their children.
